Colleges Dabble in Fragrances

“Smelling Opportunity, Colleges Are Coming Out With Their Own Colognes and Perfumes.” …

[Colleges Dabble in Fragrances - WSJ.com](http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304200804579163983479119364)

I find this very amusing. Loved this quote from the article -

“The fragrances are only the latest in a litany of products colleges are hawking under their brands to students, alumni and die-hard sports fans. At Louisiana State University, the list includes garden gnomes, fishing lures and musical bottle openers—not to mention onesies and caskets. “We have licensed products literally from cradle to grave,” says Brian Hommel, director of trademark licensing at LSU, which began selling fragrances by Masik in 2009.”

Reminds me of the famous PT Barnum quote. But when I think about it, there are college and pro sports fans in my area who buy all kinds of weird stuff branded with team names, so if people will buy it, why not? I’ll stick with a T-shirt.
