Colleges embrace online media to recruit a new generation

Nice trend-watching article in the Westchester online Journal on the extent to which social media has become a driving force in college admissions. The conclusions of a recent report, “The Game Has Changed: College Admissions Outpace Corporations in Embracing Social Media,” will not come as any surprise to avid CC readers - that social media not only has arrived in college admissions, but that it has changed the process forever:

Some colleges go from just blogs like Tulane to mega-elaborate blogs, message boards, online message boards, video blogs, student profiles, facebook groups like MIT ([MIT Admissions: Meet The Bloggers](Blogs | MIT Admissions)) and Johns Hopkins ([Hopkins Interactive](http://apply.jhu.edu/hi/))

There is a post on here somewhere I saw all the list of blogs that colleges have… you’ll have to do a search for it however.

[Here’s that list](<a href=“Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums”>Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums)

Some of my colleagues have already emailed me because we missed them…I try to keep [url=http://uvaadmission.blogspot.com/2005/07/issues-blogs-me-uva-httpuvaadmission.html]an updated list on the bottom of one of my blogs/url.

Check out UChicago’s admission’s blog. It’s quite entertaining.
