Colleges for 3.2 GPA, 1150 PSAT junior who wants to do Computer Science

Hi CC,

My son is graduating in 2022 and has a 3.2 UW GPA. He hasn’t taken the SAT/ACT yet but his PSAT is 1150. The following are his ECs:

  1. At present he is an intern in educational based startup
  2. Owner of a small game development team
  3. Programs a lot of games, discord bots, and backend servers
  4. Enrolled in high school robotics team
  5. Volunteered to help people program
  6. Loves building computers

What would be good four year in state and out of state colleges for him to apply. He’s intending to major in Computer Science? We live in California and would ideally like for him to stay in state. Any feedback on the 10 best colleges for his credentials will be highly appreciated.

UCs are pretty unlikely. CSUs look at the CSUGPA - (academic classes grades 10 and 11 capped with a max of 8 AP/honors bonus pts). Assuming his CSUGPA is in the 3.3-3.4 range, Chico and Sac in N Cal, Fullerton and Northridge down south. UNR, Boise State, CO State and NAU are WUE schools with reputable CS programs that attract lots of CA students. .
