So, I’m making my college list and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for colleges that would suit me well.
Academics: I want a pretty prestigious school, probably top 40 on US News. I have a 32-33 ACT (haven’t got it back yet), and everything else is pretty good.
-I consider myself very liberal and would like to good to a pretty liberal school, although it doesn’t necessarily have to be Wesleyan or Berkeley.
-I want to go to a school pretty close to a city, definitely not in the middle of nowhere.
-I want a school with a strong Math and Science program
-I’m gay, so a pretty good gay scene
-Probably between 2,500 and 10,000 students.
Those are my main things, any suggestions?

I have Rice, Tufts, and WashU, what else?

northwestern?

NYU has an amazing math department and is in the heart of Greenwich Village.

Rutgers …

So, it’s not my intention to be mean here, I’m merely curious, but how many threads are you going to start asking roughly the same question? Seems like I see something from you every other week.

Any cost limitations?

State of residency?

Minnesota and Stony Brook are good for math, but not super-selective and not super-expensive even for out of state students.

Many of the other top math schools are super-selective schools, or public schools with relatively high out of state list prices (and not much financial aid for out of state students). However, if you live in a state with such a public school, you may find it to be a good school to have on your application list.

Remember, you must have a safety that you will be admitted to, you will be able to afford, and you like.
