Colleges for a Male Asian As &Bs student

<p>Hi all, i am an incoming junior about to face the most rigorous year of my life and i was wondering what colleges best suit me as of right now. (As stated, I am a 16 year old Asian Male from Southern California)</p>

<p>Freshman year (semesters):

  1. Biology: B+ , A<br>
  2. Honors Cultural Geography: B+, B+
  3. Spanish 2: A, A
  4. English Honors: B, B
  5. Algebra II Honors: B, B
  6. Junior Varsity Lacrosse: A, A (not that it really matters)</p>

<p>Sophomore year

  1. Honors Physics: A, B+
  2. AP Euro: A, A (3 on AP test)
  3. Spanish 3: B+, B+
  4. Honors English: A, B+
  5. Honors Precalculus: B, C (ouch)
  6. Varsity Lacrosse: A, A</p>

<p>heres my schedule for junior year:

  1. AP Physics
  2. AP US History
  3. Honors Chemistry
  4. AP Calculus AB
  5. Honors English
  6. Spanish 4
  7. Lacrosse</p>

<p>i realize i havent been doing entirely great but i am motivated to do really really well this upcoming school year. (As and Bs, hopefully more As)</p>

<p>EC:
CSF (9, 10, hopefully all the way through)
NHS (hopefully 11-12)
President/Founder of the campus’ Pink Ribbon Club (10-12)
JV and Varsity Lacrosse 9, 10
100+ hours of community service
FBLA (10-12), hopefully will become an officer this year
hope to become ASB treasurer senior year
involved in fundraising for relief in Haiti sophomore year</p>

<p>So as of right now I still havent given up my dreams of Georgetown, NYU, Notre Dame, Boston University, Chicago University among others. I know that this dream strictly relies on how well i do this school year and i plan to shoot for the stars. please let me know what colleges to consider as you take my current accomplishments into consideration.</p>

<p>Talk to your parents. If they keep preaching the “scholarship” at your state flagship, you might not be in such good shape for expensive private schools.</p>

<p>i appreciate the concern from both of you. i have already talked about these colleges over with my parents and we are aware that these schools are definitely not going to be cheap. i started this topic hoping to gain some good tips of knowledge and i appreciate the input that you are both giving me. however, lets assume that i already knew about the money that it will take to attend any one of these universities. any advice that relates to the questions i originally posed will be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>You’re gonna have to work really, really hard especially judging how you did in some of the pre-ap courses. If you can get straight A’s for the next 2 years you have a shot at those schools, but my suggestion is to go in-state. You’ll have a better chance of getting into some schools that are very good in their own right, like UCSB, UC Davis, UCSD, maybe UCLA. I know money isn’t a problem for you, but it does help that they’re cheaper. Money aside I think they’d be a good fit for your stats</p>

<p>thanks for ur reply. yeah i know im going to have to work REALLY hard the next two years but would you say I would at least have a shot at any of the school on the east, maybe NYU?</p>

<p>It depends on your SAT score, but you’re probably in at BU.</p>

<p>You need to google the Common Data Set for each of the schools you are interested in so you can compare your stats (grades, class rank and test scorers) to the population of students they offered admission to. Right now, I see a list of (often unrealistic) reaches. </p>

<p>Rather than collect a list of random suggestions based on your prior performance, why not focus on your academics next semester, take your PSAT, and then post with your latest grades and PSAT scores? You’ll get more helpful and realistic advice at that point.</p>
