Hi! I’m planning on applying to college this fall for a comp sci major. Georgia Tech is a target level school for me; does anyone have any recommendations for other schools that might be on this same level? Thanks!
Is your home state Georgia?
n
@momofsenior1 yes it is
Assuming your scores and GPA are solidly within range for GT and your looking for school of that size/feel, Michigan UIUC, Purdue, UMD CP come to mind.
^ Michigan, UIUC, Purdue, MD are all twice the size of Gatech. GT has 20k students, the others 40k.
Cornell, UPenn, Northeastern, UVA, UNC are the same size as Gatech.
OP - I should have asked you if you were planning on studying engineering? If so, I stand by my list as those schools have similar engineering approaches (feel) to GT. Look at VT too.
^ VT has 30k undergrad, GT 15k…
VT is a large rural comprehensive university similar to Texas AM and Iowa State, 38% stem.
GT is a midsized urban engineering school, 78% stem.
The schools most similar to GT in makeup of students, scores, stem %, location, salary outcomes are RPI, Cornell, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Northeastern.
Do you want a school similar to GT by emphasis (i.e., tech-focused) or simply by student profile (such as would relate to test scores)? Strong CS programs can be found at either.
