Hi there! I’m currently thinking about applying to US colleges as a transfer from community college in Europe. I know that the chances to be admitted as a transfer are near to zero, but I want to shoot my shot. Could you please name some schools that could offer merit scholarships and probably need-based aid for internationals like me. Thank you!

so it doesn’t get lost
Therr really aren’t many.
If you’re a woman, look into the women’s colleges.
A student has found that Miami Ohio, Cleveland State, Kent State, Youngstown State… offer some aid.
I think Gettysburg had aid for 1 international transfer.
How much financial aid are you hoping for? Because most transfers, even wirh aid, would likely have to pay 30-35k*2…
You can also try a first round with the May list of colleges thzt miscalculated yield.
thank you so much! i would definitely check those institutions
as i’m self pay 20k/year would be the best option of course
what do you mean by “a first round with the May list of colleges thzt miscalculated yield”. Didn’t get it.
thank you once again!
Colleges make offers based on how many students they need to attend. That’s their target enrollment. They know that students with w or z characteristics are more likely to attend, that they need x number from each group admitted in order to reach x number… To reach that target, they use yield management specialists and yield management software, using data from past years.
However, 2020 and 2021 have been very different from usual. As a result, the software probably can’t analyze the data properly and the yield management specialists probably can’t project as well as previously.
Therefore, it’s only logical many colleges will miss their targets and will have space. You can thus apply at that point and see if anything’s affordable for you.
Are you living somewhere? Is there a university you could commute to?
yes, don’t worry , i have planned everything in advance if anything goes sideways
anyways, thank you so much for your help! appreciate it!
Also, be aware that US colleges may not accept many of your courses, or may give you less than full credit, and some may also require a third party evaluation of your transcript from an agency such as WES. I’m not sure how many years you’re budgeting for but you might want to include an extra year of costs just to be safe. Good luck with your applications!
