Colleges Like Vassar

My sister is really interested in Vassar, she loves everything about it, except she doesn’t exactly have the grades for it. Her SATs are in the 1200’s, and she’s a solid B/C+ student. Does anyone know of colleges that have similar qualities (in terms of the student body and academics) to Vassar, but are not as selective?
Help would be appreciated
Thanks very much!!

bump please answer, it would really be helpful. Even if you don’t know specific colleges, does anyone know websites or something (besides her guidance counselor) that we can look at?

Have you looked at princetonreview.com?
This is the site that first matched me up with Vassar according to a number of preferences, and I couldn’t imagine a better school for me! Click on counselor-o-matic and enter your preferences. It gives good matches, reach schools, and safety schools. Good luck!

thanks i’ll definitely check that out

The schools I get on the princeton review.com are…not what i worked so hard for 4 years to get into. i think it took my sat score and crossed a lot of schools out because of it…so anyone have any ideas about schools like vassar but not so hard?

Yeah, the counselor-o-matic is b ull****.

Check out Connecticut college, skidmore, bard, Oberlin, Kenyon, etc.

No way, take it from an Ohio girl: you can’t get into Oberlin or Kenyon with a B/C+ average and 1200s. Maybe a B/C+ average with 1400 or 1500s.

Best option: get in the best college she can and get good grades. Then transfer to Vassar.

Well, thats not entirely true ;). I know two people who got into Kenyon with those kind of stats; however, they were amazing swimmers.

My response above didn’t take into account the initial poster’s stats - just other schools that are similar to vassar.

Try Wesleyan–a reach but definitely Vassar-esque. Or maybe some women’s schools: Barnard, Smith, Mount Holyoke.
