Colleges - Med

Does anyone know where the admission requirements are for Penn?
I went on their website and couldn’t find it anywhere…maybe i didnt look hard enough…

Also, im an international student, in my ‘junior’ year i guess is what youd call it. I want to study med, and i am searching for a research based medical school (ivy preferably) that was high ranking but at the same time not so conservative, i thought Penn might be this way, what do you think? Any other unis you know of? I’ve looked on all the top 10 Med School lists but i dont know much background info on alot of the unis like Washington in St Louis etc…

Oh and also, i know Harvard says you have to study for atleast a year in US or Canadian institutions before you are eligble for application is this specific for Harvard or are all ivys this way? I havent had time to read through all the college sites yet…

A lot of competitive colleges don’t have “minimum requirements” since: each applicant is unique, and people making the bare minimums in every category would have no chance of admission.

[Penn Admissions: Incoming Class Profile](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/profile/)

That is their freshman profile. If you look, even Valedictorians and people making 750+ on each subsection of the SAT are looking at less than a 50% admissions rate. Ivies are very competitive and I believe having good objective data (grades, course rigor, test scores) aren’t enough - you need to prove your ability to contribute diversity to the campus through leadership and outstanding EC’s along with a great Essay and Recs… That being said, they did admit some people making less than 500 on certain subsections of their SAT, people who were in the second Quintile (about 5 students, though), so there aren’t “minimums” are there isn’t even a minimum for “guaranteed” admission, either.

Are you in your junior year of high school or college? If it’s the latter, you should probably be posting the grad school forum?

when you say you want to study medicine, does that mean you are currently a junior in an undergraduate program, because by the way you were talking it sounded like you were a junior in high school.

Highschool ofcourse, when i said i wanted to study med, i meant thats my general goal for the distant future…

i’m going to post this again  i suggest for you to look into duke.

Duke Med is one of the best. i’d definitely consider adding it to your list for an undergraduate degree.

auckland? is that in new zealand? anyway, i think you should look into stanford too because they’re good premed and pretty laid back compared to other top schools
