Colleges moving away from luxury amenities - The Atlantic

That example Georgia State Patton Hall 3-person suite with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom has 191 ft^2 per person, or 573 ft^2 total. That is quite a bit larger than some old style dorms (not necessarily at Georgia State) that had less than 191 ft^2 total for 2 or 3 persons (though with shared bathroom down the hall, so none of the space is taken up by the bathroom).

I.e. even a new “economy” dorm seems quite luxurious compared to some of the old style dorms of decades ago.
