Interesting partly because I think Riverside Park is the Bronx and not Manhattan as the article says. Where did she end up and which police dept. were the guilty ones?

I certainly am glad nothing awful happened to her while in jail for all that time. Such a traumatic experience. Sounds like some bullies reacting to a Westchester young woman.

Riverside Park runs from 72nd St to 129th along the Hudson River. There are definitely some bad apple policemen in the city. (Some in our town too, who think it’s fun to harass teens and young adults for no reason.)

What a waste of time. Like he couldn’t have let her go with a ticket; like nobody ever goes to parks at night in New York City; like he couldn’t have waited 15 minutes while her friend went to her hotel to get her ID. Thank God it’s not yet against the law in the U.S. to walk around without papers. My mother once told me that ever since she arrived in this country in 1943, once of her very favorite things about the USA was the fact that “let me see your papers” was a question she didn’t have to worry about hearing ever again.
