I hesitated to mention Embry Riddle because it’s a very niche school.
One of my closest friend’s daughter also got an amazing offer at RPI. She ended up choosing Mt. Holyoke after they matched RPI’s offer. I know; it seems that they are two very different schools, so this is very anecdotal, but there you are.
I think every $$ makes a difference, unless they don’t let you stack it with other merit from the school.
I know of someone heading to Embry-Riddle next year who ‘has a full ride.’ I suspect she has Bright Futures, the resident grant, this scholarship for women, a lax scholarship, and a merit scholarship combined to ‘full.’
Yes. There are no institutionally-given full rides to Embry-Riddle. I and a few other kids are here on “full rides” by a combination of institutional merit/outside scholarships/grants.
Riddle is a niche school but you don’t need to be going into that niche to benefit. It’s a highly regarded engineering school and I’ve had no problem, as someone who doesn’t intend to work in anything aerospace/aviation related, getting hired at top cs companies.
we have a friend attending this. Not paying much at all (merit based) and opportunities are amazing It’s at the university of nebraska in lincoln. (Raikes is a microsoft guy originally from NE and has helped fund this school.) http://raikes.unl.edu/
My ChemEng D received a very generous financial aid offer from RPI covering her full tuition, which successfully pulled her away from more prestigious schools like CMU. I’m sure being female played a part in it. (She took the SAT but her ACT equivalent was 34).
A female majoring in engineering will provide an admissions advantage at some predominately male schools such as Harvey Mudd, but won’t garner a merit scholarship below a perfect ACT. The next tier of schools (#25-50) will likely provide them at 34+ ACT.
Another vote for the “Jeffrey S Raikes School of Computer Science and Management” at UNL. Lincoln is a nicer city than you might think (we are vegetarian, for example, and there are many options). They heavily recruit female candidates. If you are NMSF you get a Chancellor’s Scholarship for full out-of-state tuition, and depending on your qualifications you might (as a female, you would probably) get a full room & board scholarship from the Raikes School. My two sons went there and they are both at Microsoft now. A female classmate of my younger son is a Raikes graduate and will be going to Google. Many others are working at startups in Lincoln and elsewhere. The Silicon Prairie is an up-and-coming hotbed of entrepreneurial activity.
