Colleges that have a Beach Volleyball team or club sport.

Here’s a criteria that you don’t often see on a college search website.
I know they are out there, but am having trouble finding schools that support Beach Volleyball. Did anyone catch any info on this on your college tours?

ncaa.org has a beach volleyball section.
[College volleyball hits the beach - NCAA.org](http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=1222)

I don’t have any concrete advice but would look at websites of schools near beaches. My husband plays beach volleyball 4 days a week. We live close to UCSB. The best beach courts in SB are at East Beach which is about a 15 minute drive from UCSB. Most days you can pick up a game. I know SBCC has a beach volleyball class. Also there are many beach tournaments up and down the coast. Many strong beach players started out as indoor players. I think Todd Rogers went to UCSB. Maybe Pepperdine?

Maybe try to reach someone at California Beach Volleyball Association. They sponsor alot of tournaments based on ranking. Also I think USA Volleyball might be a place to get some information. My D gets a magazine from them and I think they sometimes have articles about beach volleyball.

Karen maybe LMU or USD? There used to be a couple of big bvb tourneys in Santa Cruz too, one sponsored by Jose Cuervo.

My requirement was “any UC with a beach” sounds like your D and I think alike ;)

Thanks, I’ve seen lots of the tournament and VBA info web pages (looks like Corona is sponsoring a lot of them right now.) But, you gave me a couple ideas that I hadn’t tried yet, so I’ll keep looking.

BTW, there is a tournament series in Florida that has ‘clinics’ before the tournament. That would be very cool for D and friends. (If we were ever going to be in Florida.)

Looks like it is time to start sending email to some of those pages. Sites like the NCAA refer to teams from UCSB and Long Beach, but I can’t find ANYTHING on any college’s website. I was thinking it would be under club sports, but maybe it is more informal than that. Maybe it is just individuals who happen to be students at that school registering for the tournaments.

We’re planning to watch some tournaments this summer, in between visiting relatives and looking at colleges. Might be able to get some more concrete information onsite.

{sigh} I miss living in California.

How intensely does she want to play? Would she be ok with intramural beach volleyball or is she a looking to represent her school? The Claremont Colleges have intramural but not a club or varsity sport.
