Colleges that heavily weigh subject tests?

I am looking for some colleges that heavily weigh subject tests in their admissions process.

I have 800s on both chemistry and math II.

Congrats on your fantastic scores!

Based on a Google search, the following colleges require or “strongly consider” subject tests: CIT, Cornell, Harvey Mudd, MIT, McGill. Next in line: Duke & Georgetown. That’s probably as strong a correlation as you’ll find. Note that all the schools on this list are very selective and are going to “strongly consider” many other factors such as GPA, SAT/ACT, EC’s, class rank, etc. as well.

The good news is that, while your subject test scores aren’t a golden ticket, they very well might help your chances of getting some scholarships or possibly give you a higher placement in college classes.

Georgetown said in their admissions presentation (and I believe it was the Dean speaking) that they have found that SAT II’s are the strongest empirical predictor of success at Georgetown, more than SAT/ACT/GPA.

My ds is a few cycles out, but at the time he applied to G’town they wanted three Subject Tests. Probably was “recommended,” but he did have 3.

The student cohort being evaluated alongside you who have the same scores are also students who will have been aiming for, and preparing for, evaluation by some of the most competitive universities in the nation. They will have sought to show a breadth and scope of skills and interests outside of the classroom.

Rmember to look for what suits all of who you are, even in the downtime, and not to focus singly on a university with which your numbers alone seem to be on par.
