<p>My GPA is average, 3.5 unweighted. My SAT score is good, but not great. Three of my counselors and two of my teachers agreed that my EC, volunteer, and honors/awards resume was “one of the best they had ever seen.” I was wondering if you guys could name a couple of schools that strongly consider or put a lot of emphasis on non-academic fields. <p>The Ivies put the most emphasis on non-academic fields. Most other colleges don’t care about ECs that much - they’re happy to get an academically qualified candidate.</p>

<p>Herunar, that’s only because most of their applicants have stellar stats. That doesn’t apply here.</p>
<p>There are no colleges that put more emphasis on ECs, etc. than they do on academics. That’s because academics are the most important aspect of college.</p>
<p>For all colleges, the academics are the most important factor in admission. Most colleges don’t even consider ECs, etc. as admission factors. At most, such things are used for merit aid consideration.</p>
<p>Places like Harvard and Amherst consider ECs, etc. as admission factors to help them choose from among the overabundance of applicants with high grades and scores that such colleges attract. Most colleges don’t have that kind of abundance from which to choose.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, your 3.5 gpa would get you into most colleges in the country, and your ECs may qualify you for merit aid at some.</p>
