As the title suggests, let’s think of some colleges that are very (practically a part of the school’s campus) near state parks, forests, rivers and/or lakes? For me, it would be great if you could list liberal arts schools that are medium hard to easy to get into but for the sake of anyone interested all suggestions are welcome.

I’ll start feel free to elaborate on my descriptions:
The University of Portland: sits on top of a hill overlooking the Willamette river.
Sierra Nevada College: located in a very woodsy area.
Earlham College: has many acres of forest located on campus, called Back Campus, for enjoyment as well as science labs.
Sweet Briar College(Women’s College): very woodsy and has a lake on campus.

Yeah, I looked it up on google earth. The campus is very nice. I’d apply but the school is almost 100% greek. I’ve never even seen a school with stats that high before, ha.

Bard College: Sited along the Hudson River in the middle of the 20-mile long Hudson River National Historic Landmark District. The college is adjacent to the Tivoli Bays state nature preserve, a 500 acre natural park administered by NYS DEC. The Bard campus incorporates a couple of former country estates.

Dartmouth may be a little more than medium hard to get into, depending on your definition, but it’s the ultimate in this regard. On a major river, connecting to the Appalachian trial with it’s own lodge in the woods and properties throughout the trail, not to mention it’s own ski hill and proximity to beautiful countryside.

There is a very active outing club that fully utilizes all of this. 95% of freshmen take part in hiking/camping/fishing/rafting trips before school starts.

St. John’s College in annapolis sits on college creek right at the confluence of the severn river and the chesapeake bay. The santa fe campus is in the foothills of the sangre de christo mountains. Several trails heading into the mountains and the santa fe national forest are accessible from campus.

Evergreen State College owns hundreds of acres of forested land and beaches along the puget sound.

Reed College contains a federally protected natural wetland at the center of campus.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland sits on the St. Mary’s River, near the confluence of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Across the street from the college is an archaeological dig at the site of historic St. Mary’s City, the fourth permanent English settlement in North America.

Northern Michigan U is walking distance to Lake Superior. Carthage College in Wisconsin is on Lake Michigan. Northland College in Wisconsin. Michigan Tech in the UP (lots of water and forests).
