My main gripe about it is some colleges say they will recalculate your gpa. I took repeated some courses I took earlier to prove that I wasn’t committed to my work back then. Will they count that grade in my transfer GPA? Also, what colleges do you think will take a 30 credit 3.0 transfer with some repeated courses and going slow. I have work experience during this time but I am not sure colleges value this very much. Any input would be appreciated.
Most colleges average a class that was retaken or they don’t count the repeated class at all. You will have to check with individual college policies for specific transfer credits.
Where do you want to transfer to? If you want to transfer into a top 50 school or so, a 3.0 may not cut it. If you are worried about your GPA, spend another semester at your current college and raise your GPA to a more competitive level. Also, what is your major? A 3.0 for an engineering major is not bad, but for a humanities major it is. Generally a 3.5+ will make you competitive for a lot of good schools.
