Hi!! I am an incoming senior at a tiny yet competitive school in Hawaii. I dream is to become a Veterinarian, so I was wondering what are some colleges that help me to better my chances at vet school.
SAT Composite: 2020
ACT (didn’t take it)
Unweighted GPA : 3.9
AP’s: Biology, Chemistry, Physics 1, Environmental Science, English Lit and Comp, Calc BC (My school only allows 2 AP for Junior Year, and 4 for Senior year)
EC: NHS, Interact Club (Recording Secretary/Historian), Co-founded Red Cross Club, Math league, Robotics, Humane Society Volunteer
I was thinking Chapman, Santa Clara, Whitworth, Azusa, and Occidental. I would prefer to stay on the West Coast because of the weather, but I am open to anything.

Where you go to college is less important than your GPA in the pre-Vet series, and your experience with animals. Hawaii doesn’t have a Veterinary College, but residents of Hawaii can get in-state rates at Washington State University, Oregon State University, and Colorado State University. Visit their websites, and find out what is required for admission to their Vet Colleges.
Unless you specialize in large animals it can be very difficult to find a job that pays enough to help you pay down your student loans from vet school which is ridiculously expensive. You need to focus on finding a place where you can get through the pre-vet program as inexpensively as possible so that you have money left to pay for vet school. Start with your own home-state public Us. If you don’t like any of them, visit the Financial Aid Forum, and read up on need-based and merit-based aid. Your SAT and GPA put you in the range for some decent merit scholarships.
