College's view on Extracurricular

How will colleges look at my extracurricular? I didn’t do anything that stand out or win any awards, but I did things that I was passionate for.

Track and Field - 3 years (Worked hard and was passionate for, but didn’t make it to state)

Volunteer and Charity/Fundraiser (Not many hours, but worked for causes I believed in)

Tutor - 3 years (Helped out other students because I am from another country and struggled when I first moved so I wanted to help others who were in the situation I was once in)

Will colleges not really care because I didn’t win any awards or stand out in my activities?

well, u can tell US that u were passionate about this thing & about that thing, but there is no real way to do that to an admissions committee, is there? so, your ECs probably won’t look that impressive, on the whole. however…if you’re looking for an essay topic idea, there is potential in this one:

“Tutor - 3 years (Helped out other students because I am from another country and struggled when I first moved so I wanted to help others who were in the situation I was once in)”

if u write it well, u could really get your passion across with that one. gl :]

OP: the vast majority of US colleges don’t factor ECs at all into admissions decisions. What type of colleges are you targeting?

im applying to Vanderbilt, NU, Michigan, NYU

My guess is a school like Michigan will probably be quite numbers-based in terms of admissions.
