I went to a party once at Mt. Holyoke and it was crawling with Dartmouth guys. Maybe their social sphere has a larger radius? I don’t really know and don’t know any current students to ask.
Some red wine and relaxing, no one is home, interesting stuff here
Good grief- that list. Two UW’s make the list- LaCrosse and Madison. Well, gee, most are from instate and plan to stay there. Like minded people choose the schools and same classes. Logical to meet someone in college you later marry. A lot of religious colleges will make the list because people find someone who shares that. They need to add hundreds to make the list more accurate.
None of my close friends from college married. There were several couples from my medical school class. I am an outlier- I needed to wait until private practice to meet my foreign born/raised H. College did it for siblings and many of the next generation- none from the list however.
My college - St. Lawrence - is not on the list but when we were there they always told us that out of the small LAC we had the highest percentage of alumni marriages. Now it seems like a lot of other schools said this too so who knows? I did meet my husband there my freshman year. He was a year older and we did break up after he graduated for a little bit, but that didn’t last too long and we have been married 18 years and have three kids. Tons of our friends married other SLU students, most of them did not date in school but started after college.
In the case of our closest friends the husband went to SLU but the wife did not. But her sister, father and grandfather all went there so we say she is close enough.
She did meet him and start dating him when he was in college - she would come up to our dorm to visit her sister and they met there.
I married an alum of my school (on the list, although I think the list is silly). But we didn’t know each other at school (not that close in age). D1 is engaged to her beau since freshman year at Dickinson (8 years ago).
