I’ve only found one post, but it was from 2006, that talked about colleges with typical southern culture and SEC sports. Could you guys help me out?
All of the SEC universities will have some Southern culture, but the type of culture will vary by the state. The schools are listed here:

Of course, SEC sports is more limiting.
Not really sure what you want. Wouldn’t you just focus in on SEC schools? If you want to get a feel for the different SEC schools I suggest you get your hands on a book such as the Fiske Guide, Insiders Guide, Princeton Review book (probably at your guidance dept. office, library, bookstore etc.). You can also look at each school’s website, look for each school’s newspaper online, look at CC posts for each school’s thread etc.
