i think Harvard is the best college that really fits me
Parents wanted me to go UCLA(cost less)
I’m born into middle class family, can’t not afford much money
i really want to have a good amazing future!
i love what I’m doing right now
LIVE RUN DREAM CONFIDENT MYSELF!

My schedule
Period 1 :English 9
Period 2: Adv Orchestra
Period 3: Geometry
Period 4: French 1/2
Period 5 : Biology
Period 6: Study Hall
Period 7 : Home Study
Period 8: Color Guard /Winter Guard

My concern is no social studies type course. One usually sees the 5 foundation areas, english, foreign language, social studies, science, and math.

my school doesn’t let any freshmen to take social studies until sophomore year

Color guard would not be a “recruitable” activity for Harvard. An average EC, yes. Also, your GPA is simply not competitive for the top Ivies. Try to talk to your mom into letting you return to cross-country. (If you became a state or regional champ, that might be a hook- but you’ll still need a top GPA and top test scores.)

Try looking at some colleges where your stats match up realistically in the meantime. I bet you can find some lovely schools.

lrd: viable applicants to HYPS are almost universally the top performing scholars in their schools. You’ll be evaluated first on your GPA and course rigor. You should know that your peers, three years from now, will be submitting their 4.0s and +2200 SATs – and many will be rejected.

Like fauve said, you seem to have a very promising HS career in front of you. However, removing “Harvard” or any name school is probably best for you and instead, focus on being the best student you can be.

By the way, you’ll be the class of 2018

Okay, so this is your middle school GPA. This doesn’t matter. Focus on doing as well as possible in high school, this is your first year that counts for college.

Hopefully, you’ll do what is best for you, not just what you imagine a certain school would like to see.

The OP was referring to the high school class of 2014.
