My daughter just applied ED. 3.85 GPA, no tests, she is an accomplished artist and is submitting a portfolio, also plays violin for 14 years and will submit a video. She goes to a private school in Colorado and wants to major in art and education. She has really great teacher recommendations and guidance counselor recommendation. Her essay is really good too- not saying that because I’m her dad.
My son applied early action. From one of the smaller more rural New England states, big rock-climber and snowboarder. Also rows crew, is in an elected student government position, professional actor with series regular tv credits, and passionate about photography. Looking to study humanities, eager to study abroad. 4.02 unweighted GPA, maximum rigor in available humanities courses plus AP Calc AB, Honors Advanced Physics and Honors Cell Bio. Strong LORs and his essays have been lauded by several outside readers. College admissions feels like such a crap shoot these days–we’re staying guardedly hopeful but realistic that being qualified is not a guarantee of admission. Good luck to everyone!
Oh also: College Counselor confirmed that per CC ED decisions will be out on the 12th, and EA decisions on the 19th.
Does anyone know what time CC ED is being released on the 12th?
My son said it will be at 4:00- guessing mountain time.
Thanks!
Good luck everyone. My son is not applying to CC, unfortunately - but I went there ages ago and it is a fabulous school.
D24 accepted ED! We are all thrilled, such a great fit for her!
S24 accepted! We are so excited! His acceptance letter was personalized, acknowledging his essay topic.
Congrats to him! If I recall correctly, you are also a Whitman family? D24 was very close to being all in on Whitman for her ED but CC pulled ahead after we visited last spring. We are excited for her!
Yes! I have a Junior at Whitman College too! I think that Whitman and CC are probably the closest thing to being “Sister Schools” for either one of the colleges. We live in the mountains not far from Colorado Springs, and my husband and I are both CC alum. Our oldest wanted to get away, and our current senior is happy to stay in Colorado. We’re thrilled for both of them!
Both schools seem pretty special. We are in WA so it came down to similar choices. Best of luck to all of them and congrats on keeping the CC connection.
Applied EA, accepted!
4.72 weighted GPA, 10 AP’s + 1 IB + 3 Dual enrollment classes
Various extracurriculars including volunteer work, rowing, environmental club, charity crochet club, national english honors society leadership, math honors society, and a job
I did a 1:1 interview and attended the school visit my admissions rep did
I still haven’t visited campus but I’m going to accepted students day to see it and decide if that is where I want to go (it sounds good on paper but I need to make sure it clicks in person!)
Congratulations to everyone! My son ended up withdrawing his application after he was accepted to his ED school–but we loved learning about everything that Colorado College has to offer!
Hooray! My daughter got in Ed. She is thrilled. The new admits are all posting on instagram and the quality of the students are amazing. She has already started exchanging messages. We had anomaly financial year past year, and the financial aid office has been great at helping us figure out an appeal. I am very excited for her, and having gone to an Ivy League school myself, the difference in attention and obivious care for the students is amazing. Can’t wait for her to start! Actually that’s probably not true.
Congrats to your daughter and family! I agree on the level of thoughtfulness and care from the college in their communications. Such a warm welcome to all and a detailed and informative family website. My daughter has been enjoying the Instagram group too, they seem like great kids ready for the CC adventure. Enjoy the rest of senior year, it will go fast! I’m trying to slow down and savor this time before our nest empties.
Curious if you had a satisfactory financial appeal.
