So was looking at their site; sounds like every kid accepted gets an invite the the honors program. Some kids get invited to a full-tuition scholarship program (Harvey Scholars).
Yes, congratulations to those accepted! For anyone accepted, can I ask what date application was sent in/ complete and what state/ region of the country you are from? @bgbg4us@co2mom@Lucky4me2be@VickiSoCal
@justkeepgoing: we are midwest; applied around Halloween. we had sent in the test scores and transcripts a few months earlier; and when they sent out an email that no essays were needed, kid hit the button to apply. that’s what was holding him back.
I don’t know the date he submitted, but email received 10/30 stating that his application was complete and ready for review. I believe he submitted it 3 to 5 days before that and his transcripts arrived about a week before that also.
-Computer science
-In state
-Golden Ticket application
-Answered both questions/essays. (I think there were two?)
Sent a teachers recommendation and a school counselors recommendation.
Sent in AP scores also.
He doesn’t want me giving out his exact scores But he’s on the lower end of most of what I see on here in respect to scores and GPA‘s. SATs below 1300 and weighted GPA around 3.7.
The things I think that got him in were his courses and clubs. Very math heavy and computer science heavy. He also attends part of the day at another school for computer science and engineering courses. 4s and 5s on AP exams in calc and physics and computer science.
And though his numbers are low compared to most here, if you were to see his grades and SAT scores breakout he does excellent in math/science but it’s his English and foreign languages is what brings his GPA down. So it makes me believe they actually look at the whole picture/student instead of just the average of scores- at least in certain cases.
Congrats to everyone who got in!
I got accepted with a $14k merit scholarship! I haven’t applied to the other scholarships or to the honors program yet because I want to see where else I get in EA first!
Stats: 36, 3.85 UW, 4.43 W (both should go up)
So excited! This was my first acceptance and I am proud to say that I will be attending college!
I got my acceptance letter earlier today for ME. I have 4.4 weighted/3.9 unweighted and 1330 sat. There is hope for low scoring test takers! Although I am the president of my high school’s FRC robotics team so I guess the extracurriculars help make up for low scores. I was offered 10k as well. Good luck to everyone waiting on their decisions!
My daughter still has no updates (applied 10/15 from CO) but today her portal has a new item on the checklist – transcript for 1st semester senior grades, showing as “Awaiting”. So maybe they want to wait and evaluate her again after the first semester ends?
Mine submitted Oct 30. No essays. Copied and pasted activities out of common app. No teacher recs or any other supplemental material uploaded.
Just got an email saying her merit could go up if her unweighted GPA goes up. Since she only has 3 high school classes this semester even 3 As won’t budge that much. They don’t seem to care about her co)lege classes.
Offered $14,000 a year (seems like they taunt everyone with this money)
I have done a lot of service work in my community. I have worked with multiple federal agencies to help bring their work to the local level. I am also President of multiple clubs at my school.
