Colorado School of Mines Admission Decisions 2024

Son was accepted today in CS program.
$8000 per year scholarship, OOS.
Submitted everything 10/31, via golden ticket app.
Might be too expensive (still) unfortunately.

EDIT:
His stats were 1520 SAT, 10 AP Classes, AP Distinguished Scholar, 3.7 UW/4.3 W GPA, Globally ranked eSports competitor.

OOS, Received $8K per year, he was really hoping for more. We are pretty sure we will not be able to afford to attend.

Merry Christmas to me! Oh, sorry, I mean my son. He just received the Colorado School of Mines Financial aid packet in the mail and was very happy to see that he received the Colorado Scholar award which will pay for all his tuition and fees for four years as long as he keeps a 2.5 gpa and keeps enrolled in a full schedule of credits. Now he needs to get some local scholarships to help pay off the room and board.

His SAT score was pretty low compared to most people on here that I have seen. As one of my engineer friends said, “No one puts a clock on me to figure out the answers to my work problems”. Glad to see that Mines doesn’t put full emphasis on standardized test scores. He did take eight AP classes in high school and had a weighted average of 4.2 I believe.

Extra curriculars included a couple of sports, NHS, and being on a nationally ranked robotics team. I also think the fact that he owned his own lawn-care company for the last three years helped.

Applied 10/03/19
Accepted 12/20/19
ACT 29
SAT 1300
GPA: 3.57 UW, 3.7 W
OOS
Major: Computer Science
2 AP Classes, 5 College Classes, Somewhat Average ECs

Received $8000 per year. Honestly surprised I got in, but probably won’t go because its sooo expensive compared to better ranked CS schools that I got into.

I made the mistake of applying late…I applied Dec 1st. I know mines have a rolling admission does that mean most of the spots are already filled? When should I expect to hear my rejection?

I think you’re fine. Earlier is better for Mines, but Dec 1st is still pretty early and a lot of people will apply over winter break.

Applied: Nov 1 ( at like 11.58pm, we love procrastination  )
Accepted: Dec 12
Received $12,000 per year

Anybody heard anything about Harvey Scholars? Wondering if all the

Invites have gone out?

We are wondering too. My daughter has not received an invite yet, and we aren’t sure when the invitations go out. If anyone gets one, hoping they’ll post to let us know.

I have learned that all the invites to the Harvey Scholarship have gone out via email.

My son received the Harvey Scholars invite, but hasn’t heard about acceptance and it’s not in his portal. Has that happened to anyone else? Does that mean he’s been admitted? Has anyone gotten a paper admittance; and if so how long did that take? Thx

dzturtle – congrats on the Harvey Scholars invite! that’s nice! I would really really assume he’s admitted. for my kid’s admittance - it was portal > email > snail mail. (portal and email were within 24 hrs of each other I think). no Harvey invite here.

Bgbg4us thank you!! Trying to wait until we see it in writing to be super excited haha but thx for detailing the process. Fingers crossed!! Thx again

And congrats to your son!! I overlooked that part. Exciting for him!!

Does anyone have an idea when the bulk of the admissions decisions will be made? I’ve seen a few acceptances here but according to their web site, decisions should be made by “early January”.
