For who got the email recently, have you got it twice? I found that I got it twice, 5 days ago and 10.2, the two emails are the same…
@MahlerGustav i only got one at 10.2… i asked around some other columbia applicants at my school and some of them got another one 5 days ago too

i think people who signed up for “request information” for columbia got promotional email on oct 2
and then some people got the same email 5 days ago
if you didn’t sign up for request info, then prob no promotional email at all
No I didn’t sigh up, but I added Columbia to my school list, and they might detected this action and thus sent this email…

Anybody know anyone that got in ED with the email?
Hi guys! As I already said I am from holland and I received the promotional email only once, and that was when I added Columbia to my common app (I think, but it was about a month before I submitted my application). It is strange that you either get a second email or you don’t, so I suppose it really could have something to do with their decision… Oh well that means I’m either accepted or rejected… Doesn’t make me feel any better tbh hahaha
To all the international applicants: after decisions come out, maybe it’s a good idea we tell everyone whether we were accepted/deferred/rejected, and if we got the alleged email a week before decisions. It could be helpful for the ED applicants of next year, plus it made me really curious whether it really did mean something hahaha. Btw, if it does mean something, Columbia made quite a blunder don’t you think? Especially if it’s true something similar happened last year already… BUT let’s not get ahead of myself as I tend to do

Just did a quick search of last year’s ED thread; nothing of the sort actually happened hahaha we’re most likely overthinking!

Well, whatever happens I got the email (the one a couple of days ago; never got the October one) and I will definitely be posting here and the results page what happened.
Hopefully we’re all just overthinking this and we all just get accepted 
Haha guys, the email does not mean anything, trust me. I got this on 2nd Oct after signing up for a local admissions event; it’s purely promotional so take a chill pill. I must mention, I received an entirely different letter a few days ago (through post which itself is weird) which wasn’t really a promotional letter. It was something along the lines, “Picture yourself sitting on the footsteps of Low” and then mentioned some specific stuff about Columbia, which I’d also mentioned in my supplements and finally concluded with “me and my staff are looking forward to meet you”. Just curious if anyone received such a letter (through mail, not email). Though I really doubt if it means anything.
