Columbia Class of 2020 ED Applicant Thread

Lol I didn’t get an interview. I guess they came up with some kind of decision already.

@MahlerGustav I got the email too…at first I thought all intl applicants got it but now I’m freaking out lol

@Pinguman123 Hey are you an applicant from S Korea? same here!!

I received the international admissions email on October 2nd (just checked my inbox LOL), but I didn’t turn in my application until late October, so I’m thinking that email didn’t have to do with the decisions… My interview came a week after I submitted the app, which was much faster than I thought…seems like all kids from my school who applied ED CC/SEAS got the interview

@jangjang9898 was the interview in real life or online?

@mihirt19 for me, real life! i did hear from some last year applicants that they did theirs through skype, though.

2 days! So scared!

Am an international applicant and I got the email too!! FML please let the mailing list be independent of admissions decisions :’(

~X( Are you sure that what you got in Oct is the same email? Maybe the situation in Korea is different from in China, since 19 students who accepted ED all got interviews. Maybe interviews in China are selective (as they have said on their website “too many Chinese are applying” lol)

@BrynMawr61 Same here! And isn’t is 3 days? :smiley:

@MahlerGustav I’m not too sure if that is the exact email everyone is referring to, but I think people are concerned because some got the email a few days before or even a week before, which is when all apps were probably already reviewed…

and as for interviews, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I’m sure the Chinese applicant pool is much bigger than Korea’s, which might be the reason why the alumni couldn’t reach out to everyone!

@jangjang9898 Thank you! I got three emails, one was when I added Columbia to my list in Commapp, another was when I submitted my app, and this one 5 days before they release the decision… I tend to believe that the email does mean something (which means I am already deferred, but luckily, not rejected) :((

@jangjang9898 and I think the S Korean pool is highly competitive and selective too! you guys all got perfect scores lol

@MahlerGustav sighh it’s true that it is competitive over here :confused:

columbia didn’t send me promotional emails for a long while since I submitted my apps… and I interpreted that as them losing interest in me LOL so many different ways to interpret these emails…

@jangjang9898 hope so… 3 days left only…

@jangjang9898 hope so… 3 days left only…

do any of you guys know what the columbia decision letters start with…?
do they start with “congratulations” if the applicant gets accepted, and start with “thank you for applying…” if the applicant is deferred / rejected?

i’m trying to prepare myself for the moment I see that first word of that decision letter LOL

lol please don’t tell me my speculation was right, and that people who got the email were deferred. I wholeheartedly wish that everyone got in, but if the speculations were true, just watch me get rejected lol

@TrazCapDEV Are you worried because you got the email recently?? Don’t be too upset about receiving it if thats the case… after all, we’re all just making wild guessesss

@jangjang9898 nah, I’m actually one of those who didn’t, that’s why I said I would be rejected lol…Also I’m applying from DC, so I guess it’s normal not to receive it?

@TrazCapDEV Yeahh i think the email said something like international admissions, so that’s probably why. don’t worry!
