@shamrocks I was wondering that too. It’s probably going to come in the paper mail in a few days.
@shamrocks It said that we will recieve them in the mail with our formal acceptance letters!
Hey guys I got accepted. I’m just having a hard time with logging into the undergrad admissions. They sent me a link to https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/welcome/user and want me to enter a Uni and password. I entered what they gave me and its not working. Can someone help?
@Alpha101 Google Columbia Welcome Page and type in your ID and password, YYYYMMDD
Hope that helps!
ACCEPTED - beyond excited to be joining my fellow lions next year. Feel free to message me, I’d love to meet some of you!
Accepted!!
Alas, I didn’t, in fact, open up the portal in the middle of climbing… but maybe that’s for the better. I probably would’ve fallen off the wall or something.
To those accepted - I can’t wait to meet you guys! I love you guys already - and we haven’t even met face-to-face.
To those not - don’t get too uppity now that you know you’re too good for us ;p it was so great getting to vent with all you over the past few days. Seriously, I wish you the best on the journey ahead.
Just checking in from the Yale SCEA thread; the anticipation is agonizing. There’s still 5 more days until decisions are out so I’m vicariously experiencing the madness, for now. Congratulations to those accepted, and to those with unfavorable news: don’t stress! If you applied ED to Columbia, you must have some great college choices ahead of you!
Anyone log in yet?
@javaislife im not able to
does anyone know what the deference rate is for ED? like does it mean that it’s not the worst thing in the world if I got deferred?
@JungleJim4232 I’m trying to figure out the acceptance rate for deferred applicants?
I would guess around 20% but I’m not sure @JungleJim4232
I want to know also! @Yomo710
@Yomo710 @graceann the deference letter said the acceptance rate is about the same as the regular pool. don’t quote me on the math but say 20%/~600 get deferred and then 5% of us get in, that’s about 30~40 people that would receive admission, which seems about right
Haha I remember at 5:51 I got an email from Columbia with the heading “Welcome Admitted Students” and my heart literally skipped a beat. But then I was like “No, there’s now way.” So I just though it was an email that went out to all applicants. Epic brain fart. My brain was literally so dysfunctional the time because of anxiety and stress that I didn’t even realize that I got in. But damn, I freaked the freak out when I saw the signature “Congratulations” in the acceptance letter nine minutes later. Was literally jumping around my house like a rabbit on crack. :))
Wait sameeeee @Alpha101!! I was freaking out bc i couldn’t log onto the page they sent me (I thought it was a decision page they sent to everyone) with my old password and was about to have a nervous breakdown and forced my parents out of my room (lol sry parents). THen i saw the congratulations in the letter and crieD. In retrospect I could’ve skipped that 10 minutes of anxiety. Also, I didn’t even log onto the welcome admitted students page until the next day bc im an idiot and forgot about it/didn’t realize what it was
Lol @cl938803 I’ve been spending the past few days looking up Columbia clothes I might want to buy. You know us future lions got to represent. I might even get a shirt for my AP US teacher. She’s like a second mom to me. I haven’t been able to sleep the past few days either out of excitement.
hi guys! someone applying rd here, just wondering if you guys wrote a brief explanation next to the books/films/magazines/websites/events they asked us to list? i’ve been stressing out over this, on one hand an explanation can give the admissions people more information about yourself but on the other hand the admissions officers may be pissed that you didn’t follow the directions exactly
anyways thanks for the help!
I just wrote a list and it worked for me!!
yep me too I got in and also used a list! @codegurle432
@codegurle432 to offer a counter-opinion ('cause those are always great), I did (BRIEFLY! Very briefly) explain a few of the more confusing/“alternative” choices just to provide a little context. If you feel like it enhances the meaning of the supplement, go for it, but don’t explain just to fill the whitespace. Honestly - why would a university like Columbia reject someone solely because they didn’t “follow the directions exactly?” The well-behaved rarely make history
If you want to include a few short explanations, just don’t a) be obnoxious about it or b) do a s*** of it and you’ll be fine
DISCLAIMER: I don’t work in admissions and may very well be flat-out wrong, so take my inexpert advice a grain of salt.
