Columbia College and Columbia University?

May I ask what is the difference between CC and CU cause I am getting so many different answers from people that I am confused. I’m an international student so I’m not too familiar how the US education system works. I might or might not take up a diploma locally here, if i do not, I want to go and study abroad straight away after I graduate.
After all that, where do I apply? CC or CU? I’m really confused by all the different responses I’ve gotten from other people. Can someone please explain to me in detail?

*I’m leaning more to the creative writing/english/journalism side.

Thank you.

ok well think of columbia university as this huge umbrella, and underneath it there are its graduate schools (law/business/journalism etc.) and ALSO its undergraduate division which comprises of Columbia College (general arts & sciences, this is where undergraduate english/creative writing is housed and where you would apply) and also its other undergraduate school, the fu school of engineering (this school also has graduate programs too).
so you will be applying to columbia college that is within columbia university, and you send your SAT scores to a CEEB that is called Columbia University Undergraduate admissions
hope i made sense haha

Sometimes people also confuse Columbia College in Chicago:
