Columbia Financial Aid

I’ve heard that Columbia’s financial aid is phenomenal for many students. In the off chance that I get off the wait list, is it possible that I would get the chance to apply for financial aid? I committed to UChicago a few weeks ago, but apparently my family is too Asian and lived the American dream too well to get financial aid at UChicago. If my family makes ~$300k/yr and I have a sister also in college (albeit at an in-state public), would it be possible to get even a little bit?

Gibby answered you over on the Princeton forum. No. You will not be eligible for Columbia’s financial aid, given your family’s income. How presumptuous of you to even assume that you would be, under such circumstances. Chicago did not, by the way, “discriminate” against you financially because your “family is too Asian and lived the American dream too well.” What an offensive statement! However, it is precisely because your family HAS lived the “American dream” so well that you will not be granted financial aid from either Columbia or Princeton should you be accepted off of either wait list. Financial aid is intended for those talented students not as financially fortunate as you claim to be.

You have claimed elsewhere, by the way, not ever to have been particularly interested in Columbia. Why not, then, revel in your good fortune to have been accepted by Chicago?
