I’m wondering if I should apply to GS or Fu due to an issue with some subject tests. I have everything in my app lined up except a little issue with subject tests. Concerning our beloved standardized tests, my sats are fine (crit: 750, math : 770), my liberal arts subj tests are good (world hist: 790, us hist: 760) but my math and sci subj tests aren’t good (math 2: 690, physics: 670). Also, idk if it makes a difference for this but my dad went to columbia. My app is equally strong in liberal arts and STEM overall (excluding subj test issue)>

I took math 2 freshman year. However, I’m not that concerned by it due to my regular sat math score and course load at Gov School for Sci and Tech.

I am worried about my physics subj test though… My physics course was incredibly intense but it didn’t cover a lot of sat phys subj test material (35% actually). So, my score sucks in it. i got a 4 in ap phys c e&m though.

I also have done 3 engineering mentorships, 2 at nasa and 1 at a drone/uav company and wrote 2 papers…but…i’m concerned my subject tests will sink me if i apply to fu engineering…

Should I apply to GS or Fu? Your thoughts on this are much appreciated. (Just looking at acceptance chances.)

They are just subject tests. If you show you can handle work through your curriculum and your well involved (all those engineering mentorships) what are 2 subject tests going to say about you or your passion? Nothing.

If you really want Fu, apply Fu! That’s it.

I realize the Columbia GS v. College thing chill. I’m looking at admissions chances. I should prob apply to the college instead of fu. I can switch in anyways once I’m in. I assume my reason for a low physics score (my gov school class didn’t cover the material) won’t make a difference in the admission officer’s eyes if I apply to fu?

Ironic fail on those subject test since I get the highest scores on almost every math test at a magnet school mehhhhgg thanks for the advice though
