<p>Not sure if you’ve heard, but the Department of Education is investigating whether a student at Barnard was illegally “steered” away from taking a class with Columbia professor Joseph Massad, who’s known to be very critical of Israeli policies toward Palestine. A pro-Israel advocacy group learned about the incident and complained to the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, who agreed to investigate. Coincidentally (or not!), the president of that advocacy group is the former head of the Office of Civil Rights.</p>
