Columbia Law and Japan?

After browsing through Columbia Law’s website, I was considerably impressed with the school’s apparent strength/experience in Japan and the study of Japanese law.

Has anybody here had any experience with or know anything about Columbia’s Japan affiliation? They claim to place more graduates (Japanese and foreign) in Japan after graduating than any other leading law school, so I was wondering what people have heard here.

P.S. I’d love to hear anything you’ve heard/experienced concerning other school’s Japan association or Japanese law programs.

This is the first I’ve heard of that. The only two people from CLS I know who got jobs in Japan were both Japanese.

A lot of biglaw firms have offices in Tokyo. I don’t know if that means you could apply for jobs in those offices just like you could apply to the NY or LA office, but that’s something to keep in mind.

Anyone else care to weigh in? Bump
