Columbia Poli Sci Prof Arrested For Incest With His Daughter!

[Prof. David Epstein charged with incest with daughter (UPDATED) | Spectrum](http://spectrum.columbiaspectator.com/spectrum/prof-david-epstein-charged-with-incest-with-daughter)

This is a far more fascinating story than some kiddies selling LSD on Altoids mints.

not sure about it being “more fascinating”, but it is a “more sick” story for sure…

These stories coming out right around my rejection from Columbia is clearly a message to me from God.

Thank God for rejection then lol. It may have been for the best after all. Something is rotten in Columbia University.

Hah, the sore losers are infiltrating this thread…

Losers? What did I lose? O.o

You don’t “win” by getting into Columbia LOL.

Oh…oh my. When I read the thread title I thought it was a joke, but…wow. o-o

BTW if you missed it, the “Something is rotten in Columbia University” is a reference to the line “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark” from the play Hamlet.

^ Indeed. You are an exceedingly well-read young man/woman. If only those scoundrels at Columbia had recognized your brilliance. Those dastardly fiends.

“According to NYPD, the young female relative is Epstein’s daughter, age 24… According to police, the relationship appears to have been consensual.”

“If convicted, he’ll face up to four years in prison.”

Fascinating, yes.

^^^What’s the point of the sarcasm? I never complained about not getting into Columbia lol.

I was only kidding around with my comment.

I’m sure that Columbia is a great place, I just thought I’d make light of my own failure, lol.

He won’t do any jail time. He’s charged with one count of a low-grade felony. He’ll make a plea and his biggest punishment is going to be the public humiliation.

That’s what a Harvard education’ll do to ya.

is harvard (or stanford) going to revoke his degree? LOL.

I don’t see what the big issue is. Yeah, incest is taboo, but it was a consensual relationship. They may as well arrest the guy for being a homosexual.

Uh… it’s with his DAUGHTER. Consensual or not, that is sick.

Many things are sick, but they shouldn’t be criminalized.

Banging your daughter should be criminalized… that’s against the nature.

Being “sick” or “against nature” is the same bigoted argument used against homosexuality.
The real argument is that one can never really be sure that consent is real. The nature of the father-daughter relationship is such that one will always suspect a power imbalance or coercion.

“The nature of the father-daughter relationship is such that one will always suspect a power imbalance or coercion.”

I envy the parent who feels they still have a power imbalance or coercion over their 24 year old son or daughter. My kids are a little younger, and I’m lucky if they return my calls.

The described relationship is quite yucky and beyond, but I don’t see why it’s anyone else’s business frankly, based only on what’s been described. Of course there may be much more to the story (going on since 16, etc).
