Columbia RD 2016 Applicant Discussion Thread

this is a message for BIGGREEN2016: it won’t let me send you any messages anymore and it won’t show me your e-mail address. it *** out most of your messages. :frowning:
stupid cc
I am going to post this on some of the threads I see you in so maybe you will see it and we can figure this out.

A little more than 10 minutes left!!!
Haha, here’s to that glimmer of hope in all of us!

Rejected. That was exciting nonetheless.

rejected probs due to my low stats, dont apply if you have under 2000 sats, congrats to everyone that got in and goog luck to those that apply next year

waitlisted。。。

Can. Not. Log. In. This is so frustrating.

@Jackyt

Me either! this is death.

cant log in…how do i get a new pin or password?

Also, may I say that it’s a really ****** move to release decisions at the exact time that your office closes. What about those of us with tech issues, not trying to whine about our decisions (that we haven’t received)?

can’t log in either. :frowning: my pin and password email got deleted and the admissions office is closed so they can’t issue a new one.

I just sent out an ema to get a new password. They said it could take up to a couple hours.

Can anyone who got in see their financial aid awards?! Or will they be a few days?

accepted!! yeah…

So Frustrating!!! I can’t login ;(

Received email response to new password request, and site is working for me now. Accepted again, as a John Jay scholar. :)

^^Congratz Mr.Silverturtle…do you by any chance know the percent of people who get admitted off of the waitlist? :)

Waitlisted Columbia SEAS.

Oh well, time to send them the most awesome piece of convincing letter now.

Accepted to Brown btw :)

Hey silver turtle, aren’t you already at college? :o

Thanks.

The waitlist generally functions merely as a buffer to fill in the difference between the original number of matriculants and the expected number, based on yield rate projections (i.e., the percent of students accepted who matriculate). The waitlist is not used if the original class size meets or exceeds the target.

I haven’t analyzed the trends in Columbia’s yield rate or the other relevant figures, such as number accepted and number put on the waitlist. Doing that could give you a good sense of what to expect, but historically the acceptance percentage from the waitlist has been low.

Alright then, thanks.

Congratulations on the Brown acceptance. Whatever happens with Columbia, you have a great option to choose now.

My situation is a bit unusual. I matriculated at Brown last year (picking it over Columbia) but went on medical leave in November. Because I haven’t earned any undergraduate credits yet, I can apply under freshman admissions to most schools. Just to widen my options for my fall return, I sent out a limited number of reapplications (HYSC). So far my decisions are the same as before: Accepted to Columbia and rejected from Yale. I don’t yet know what I will do next year.
