Columbia RD 2016 Applicant Discussion Thread

Since one isn’t up, I figured this would be a nice, condensed place to discuss Columbia and our thoughts on Columbia 2016 and decisions.

And likely letters should be coming out soon, but I’m definitely not banking on getting once, much less getting in :)

SEAS '16 applicant here :)

Fu Foundation here. I would really love to go, but I wouldn’t be too upset if I don’t get in/can’t pay for it

Hey I applied to Columbia too! Columbia College RD, and it’s nice to see you again @Tizil7 lol

ivydreamer48 and Tizil7, you applied to Columbia too!

CC’16 applicant

Post if you get a likely letter so we know when they are going around :)

@DMAO17 and @Tizil7, looks like we have the same taste in colleges lol. Also, when do likely letters usually get sent out?

late February early march

I think they are sent to only around 300 admitted students so not a big worry if you don’t get one

@Ivydreamer48 and @DMAO17: Looks like we have really similar tastes in colleges :D

We should compare college decisions once March decides to stroll by (I must point out, march is showing no sense of urgency! 1 second today still takes the same time as it did yesterday!) just in case we end up at the same place haha :)

I agree @Tizil7 I wish the three of us the best of luck and if we do get in, then we will have the pleasure of meeting face to face :)

Have any of you guys done interviews? I was asked to go to a 20 minute alumni interview but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth it (the place was about 45 minutes away)

Nope, not been contacted yet for an interview.

Who do likely letters go to? Do they send them all on a certain date like ED decisions?

I got an alumni interview. I decided to take every chance I could to show Columbia they are my number one choice so I went to the interview. Mine lasted 45 minutes and I felt that it went pretty well.

I thought likely letters were sent out in the fall to recruited athletes. Does Columbia send out likely letters in February? How do they pick 'em? That’s kind of cool.

Last year, my friend got a likely letter from Columbia in early February.

Good luck to all of you =)))

Hey, guys! nice to meet you, i am also one of the applicants to Columbia…
I am actually applying for the columbia-juilliard exchange…
so i have a question about likely letters…do they only send it to athletes or to extremely qualified applicants?

Is it just me, or do I see less enthusiasm on the Columbia 2016 RD thread?
