Columbia RD 2016 Applicant Discussion Thread

I noticed that too: even cornell has much more enthusiasm!

I know right, were barely even on to page 3! hmmm maybe it’ll pick up soon

Hi everyone! I am an applicant to Columbia! Actually, Columbia accepts very few students from my school (Only one per year), so Im kind of worried. Well, hopefully everyone on this thread gets in!

Hey ckpckp1994!! yea I hope so too.

I guess there was also a drop in applicants from College Confidential as well…

has anyone visited Columbia? I’ve never been been, but hope to do so in Feb.

I “visited” columbia but it was to take a test lol. Only 1 person from my school has been accepted since I was a freshman (she goes there now). 2 other kids from my school also applied, one of them will probably get in (he is the valedictorian and already got accepted to harvard EA) and another is a black student ahead of me in class rank but has lower board scores.

I visited columbia actually (I really~ want to go there)…unfortunately, it was raining, but the campus was pretty nice…the facilities look worn down than ornamentally gothic-style (like princeton)…but yea, anyways, is anyone applying for the columbia-juilliard exchange?

FYI guys, you can check the status of your applications now.

Just go to <a href=“Admissions | Columbia University in the City of New York”>Admissions | Columbia University in the City of New York; and enter your Columbia app ID number. I’m surprised they didn’t send out an email, but thanks to my constant checking of Columbia’s website, I saw the news update.

You guys are lucky, I have to resort to youtube and flickr to “tour” columbia,hahaha

Applied to Columbia College :slight_smile: Sorry if this was asked already but when do we get our responses?

I applied to Columbia College! I visited back in October and it was a beautiful day, so the tour was great. I really want to get in but no one from my school has gotten in in recent years… I can always hope!

ah im nervous about applying to columbia.
apparently, no one at my school has gotten into columbia in the past 5 years…even though people from my school get accepted by harvard princeton yale mit etc (last year we had 6 MITs and 3 harvards)…but no columbias.

…maybe columbia just has something against my school? haha

My best friend was accepted into Columbia for ED I, and now I hope to get in for ED II! But for some reason a lot of people from my school applied to Columbia.

cugaz93, Columbia doesn’t have ED II. What are you talking about?

Oh, I meant regular decision!

^haha!

Hey guys! Fu Foundation applicant here! :)

Fu Foundation applicant here! Im kinda nervous about the decision :x our valedictorian was deferred from ED so Im a little disheartened. He didnt have any leadership EC so im hoping that and my higher SAT scores get me in. Anybody know a set date when decisions come out?

Is columbia really that difficult to get into?
@Jbazile7, what are your stats?

guys, if you are not applying for financial aid for columbia, do you need to complete the CSS Profile?

So sounds like March 30th, with all the other Ivy League schools.

@Kimchi boy yes, Columbia is extremely difficult to get into, they accept less than 7% of their applicants (a bit higher for SEAS)

The CSS Profile is only required if you are applying for financial aid.

@cortana431, thank you!
@CountMonteCristo, thank you! btw, off topic, but is count of monte cristo your favorite book?
oh gosh, VERRRY nervous about decisions. None of the applicants last year were accepted. So most probably 1-2 this year, i think…but other students in my school are all academically strong :frowning: but I am able to distinguish myself from my fellow peers with music, being the only cellist at the school, and art.
Do you think that will help?
