I applied to Columbia College, my dream school! I love everything about Columbia. No one from my school has ever been accepted to an Ivy League so I am extremely nervous but I know I belong in NYC. Best of luck to everyone! :)

Hi guys. I decided to apply, but this is such a hard school to get into that I haven’t even though about it much. I guess that explains the lack of enthusiasm on this thread. Good luck to everyone!

^ aha same! Good luck!

On second thought, apparently likely letters came out. Friend got it. Congrats to anyone who received one!

“CountMonteCristo, thank you! btw, off topic, but is count of monte cristo your favorite book?”

got a likely letter on Monday as well to the Fu Foundation School of Engineering! I’ll post stats soon.

Congrats on the letters! Do you know if they’re sent out only to SEAS applicants?

This wait is unbearable, but it’s progressively getting better. I thought the decision date was April 1, so it’s a nice surprise that hopefully it’s a day earlier!

For Juilliard live audition, do the judges listen to EVERYTHING (all of 1st mvt, etc.)?

@MissYale: I think a couple people in the LL thread said that they were CC applicants, though the bulk were definitely to Fu. I imagine that’s a conscious decision on Columbia’s part to attract math/science students. And it’s also easier to identify the “superstars” in those fields.

My friend who got a LL will most likely not be going because of the financial costs. I too am expecting pretty much an auto rejection (basically told that by the columbia admissions office).

@cortana431 why would the admissions tell you youre an auto rejection?

I got into Cornell early decision but I had to withdraw because I didn’t get any financial aid. So when I talked to Columbia they told I most likely wouldn’t be considered because Columbia and Cornell’s financIal aid are similar.

tell me if Columbia still consider my submission of common app …
and supplement .

@cortana431

Didn’t get any aid? or didn’t get enough aid? These are 2 very different scenarios. Not to guess or judge your financial situation but why did you apply to Cornell if you weren’t sure about finances? If your parents make too much you had to have known that you wouldn’t have been granted aid and if they fall somewhere in that limbo zone you should’ve been prepared to deal with loans.

I’m sorry and it’s unfortunate that Cornell couldn’t offer you something, but what does that say about your other choices? Are they schools with alot of grant/merit money because if not you’ll probably have to take out loans anyway . . .

Either way, I’m sorry to hear about you not being able to attend Cornell, good luck to you

Thanks, I knew from the beginning I most likely wouldn’t get any but my parents thought it would be worth a shot. They make enough to not qualify for any aid but not enough to pay $60k a year. I have a scholarship to rensselaer do I’m fine without Columbia and cornell. Always grad school!

Good for you, Rensselaer is a fine school. It stnks to be in that limbo bracket where your family makes too much to recieve but not enough to pay :(

If you don’t mind my asking: thinking about engineering or applied sciences?

Engineering, biomedical right now but Ill be flexibleonce I start taking classes. Thanks, and yea it does but I would much rather graduate with very little debt

So my school got a letter from Columbia… I was called down to my counselor, but it seems as if it was just an acknowledgment of my application. Does it mean anything special? Or was it really just a notification? Did anybody else receive this?

I checked at my house and I didn’t get a likely letter in the mail… so I’m guessing its just the latter.

Hey guys =] I was just thinking about college and everything, so I decided to stalk the Columbia forum to measure my chances and such…I’m a female applicant to Columbia College, potential major in poli sci (international relations focus), from NYC…I thought it was interesting that, despite the fact that we LIVE in Columbia’s city, my school’s valedictorian and I didn’t receive interviews from the university…and I should be in the top percentile myself…so nobody worry about that, it seems to be really random. In fact, the school’s site stated that they go in a chronological order- the earlier you apply, the more likely you are to get an interview.
So yeah…just saying hi and all xD and would like to hear about the likely letters that went around…am also interested in perhaps sharing some stats?
good luck to us =] xxxx

Likely letter! Also they said on one of the letters they sent me that RD decisions would be sent out on March 29th (maybe snail mail though).
