Columbia RD 2016 Applicant Discussion Thread

I received a likely letter today! Brazilian, non-athlete, Columbia College.

Son of a, March 29th? I am going to be stuck in a perpetual panic attack from the time I wake up that Thursday til the second the clock hits 5 EST. That’s how I was for Columbia’s ED decisions on December 8th (I was deferred, obviously haha).

But at that time, on March 29th, I will be receiving decisions online from: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia. If it’s just the all-around Ivy day, then Dartmouth and Penn too.

I’m assuming it’s online, that’s how the ED decisions were.

And congrats to all the likely letter recipients, y’all deserve it!

got a likely letter on the 23rd as well!!

for all those who haven’t received an LL, hows the waiting going? I mean I’m waiting for 3 decisions on ivy day but I think I’m more nervous about Columbia

I honestly tried to put Columbia out of my mind because I didn’t think there was any way I was getting in with such a low admit rate… then I got a likely letter. White Jewish non-athlete girl interested in poli sci/econ/human rights at Columbia College and not valedictorian or salutatorian. There is hope for everyone!

Does anyone know how they send out ll’s? I wasn’t able to send my mid-year report in until a couple weeks ago because my school is stupid and didn’t have them ready until then.

Likely letter to CC! Science kid here (biophysics, biochem or math…)

Likely to CC. Posted stats on other thread.

Qualitative, I felt the same way! I’ve got really good stats, but not tippity-top. White Jewish non-athlete from public school in MA, interested in comparative literature/neuroscience/psychology at Columbia College.

Where’s the other thread? For some reason I cant find it. Thanks in advance!

I haven’t applied for aid, but I can still log onto the Financial Aid site with my ID.

Is this an error, or can everyone else also log in?

At this point I’m not really worries if I get accepted or not to Columbia since I already got accepted to Cornell. Still would be nice to get accepted though…

^How do you already know about Cornell? Did they release decisions?

^ he could have received a likely letter from Cornell or applied ED.

Lilshaun~ I wish I was in your shoes.

@collegeinfo I got my acceptance letter to IRL march 1st. Others who applied there and to Cornell’s hotel scho found out too

Getting nervous!
I really want to go to HYP (or for me, PHY hahaha) but I absolutely Columbia. Only 15 days guys!

Can someone explain what likely letters are please?

@higheredaspirer

“likely letters,” are letters(sometimes preceded by an email) from schools to applicants that let that student know that they in fact intend to accept the student. It’s a pre-acceptance letter designed to keep that student’s interest on said college/university during the whirlwind of application season. There is positive power in knowing you’re “in,” somewhere early on in the process and it helps institutions stay in the minds of students they want.

collegeinfo1994 likely letters were sent yesterday from Cornell my D got one.
