Can Columbia SHAPE help with ED Columbia or is it a meaningless “Pay to Play” program?
If it helps develop you into a stronger candidate, it can help. But so can many other things. Simply attending does not add to the application

i’ve heard its highly selective /shrug.
I don’t think it’s meaningless - is somewhat selective and looks interesting. But I see that they also stress that it doesn’t have an impact on later admission to Columbia. If attending the program did impact admission, that would definitely be pay-to-play!
If the student wants to go, would authentically enjoy it and find it enriching, and family can afford it (or you might get a scholarship), maybe apply and see what happens.
