After you applied how long did it take you to get your portal? Thanks.
Ironically…my daughter who applied ED, just emailed/called today (had applied on 9/19), was told it could take “a couple of weeks” to receive the portal login
My son applied on 10/05/24, received an email regarding portal on 10/06/24.
DESCISIONS OF ED COME OUT OF DECEMBER 18th, 2024 AT 7:00PM EASTERN!!
good luck everyone!!
I feel that, not only just Columbia, most colleges ED/EA do not get people’s attention any more. See how quiet this forum is…
It is a truly small population of people who are in each, especially ED. Think that students can have 10-12 colleges for RD but only 1 for ED; reduces count by quite a bit. Let’s say that 0.05% of all college applicants = 80000 actively use CC (1,313,763 unique CommonApp applicants for 23-24, let’s say 1.6 mil inlcuding QB/Coalition), and even less participate in discussions. But hopefully RD will have more discussion!
The only options are Withdraw and Other
Even the RD topics aren’t that active for Columbia most years. There’s ~60K applicants, but seemingly few in the discussion here. And most of the activity is parents anyway.
My S25 got rejected
4.0/4.7 gpa for anyone that is interested
I get the feeling that EC, essays and extenuating circumstances are more important.
Straight A students aren’t that special there
4.0/4.93 deferred, 21 AP’s, ranked 1/350, all A’s since elementary school .
Feel ED is exclusively designed for young CEO/founders & big donor’s kids.
Okay, will dash into the RD round, all T-20 private colleges except for those in Cali.
Gosh. 21APs? How on earth can one student fit that many into a high school schedule?
Clearly your student is academically gifted and works hard. I wonder if too much time could be spent in the classroom/studying/taking exams vs getting experience and leadership. Unless your kid managed to fit that in too.
Daughter admitted ED. 4.0+. No APs offered at school, but 14 honors courses. Strong and diverse ECs. Test optional. No hooks. We have to assume her essays, recs and supplementary portfolio were viewed as strong. Honestly, we were surprised, as I think you have to be given admit rates. We are from a distant state, so no doubt that was also a factor.
