I don’t think too many previous participants come here too much anymore. Would you come here next year? But yes, if an experienced SHPer just so happens to be browsing this thread, I too would like to know what you think about the different courses!

Have you received the course selection information? Is it a printed catalogue or is it online?

have any of you guys heard or received anything from columbia beyond the initial decision letter? i’m getting a bit worried because i haven’t received any information since july. considering the classes are supposed to start in late september, i’d have thought they’d have sent out the course request information by now…

so have any of you guys heard anything?

According to the SHP website

“The fall semester of SHP classes will begin on Saturday, September 22, 2012.
All SHP students will be mailed course descriptions and course selection forms
during the week of September 3rd.”

Has anyone gotten their course selection forms yet?

nothing here… anyone else get something? their phone says it will come this week…

Nothing yet here…

nothing here yet! :(

I was hoping it would come this week for me, yet nothing here. At least the course listings will be up some time tomorrow on the website.

The courses are up in the website! What are you guys planning on taking?

The website now says (under announcements) that the forms were mailed out on friday… so they should be here by Monday..

@silveraurora
I am thinking about: Exp. in genetics… organic chemistry… neuroscience..
cant really decide…

We got the list of classes in the mail today. It’s a subset of what’s posted in the website. Will the missing ones be offered in the spring session?
Also how much is the minimum donation and when do we suppose to give it?

the list of classes are all of them offered this fall. The ones on the website are everything that has historically been offered, and the spring session may or may not (probably not) offer them.
The donation is optional, so there is no minimum. But I would say if your family conditions are good, then just donate the recommended amount. You give it to them when they ask for it, i guess after classes start.

@SilverAurora Thanks.
What is the recommended amount?
The Graph Theory got dropped from the website. I’m sure it was there last year because that’s what my daughter was planning to take.

hmmm… I don’t remember… It should have been on the registration sheet though, the one you got telling you that you got into SHP.

I still haven’t got anything? Anyone else still waiting?

Sent from my Transformer using CC

Hey Does anyone know if the SHP courses are considered “college level” courses?? For example, can I put it on common app?

I would guess not since you do not take them for credit and you get no grade.

How are everyone’s courses going? Calculus in the complex plane is confusing (more of an analysis class than anything else) but really interesting.

My D loves the orgo class she took this semester, there are a lot of lab involved, I think taking this class after completed her AP Chem last year in junior definitely helps, they are all seniors except one, so I believe Columbia also has their standard for selection.

Does anyone know if I should put Math-1 Integrated in the application for Columbia Science Honors Program if I took it in 9th grade? I am a sophomore and also need to know if I should enter in the grades and courses that I am currently enrolled in into the application?
