Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Can be bring calculators?

Last question, to get to a specific hall, can we go directly from the nearest street or do we have to enter from the front or something like that?

How was it guys?

some of the challenge math questions were kind of easy, so i was scared that there were tricks…? but others were really hard. /: eh. i have no idea. probably rejected, whatever.

i found science not that bad due to my school’s science curriculum. i mainly only skipped the circuit questions since I never learned about them. being a more science than math kinda guy i probably bombed both math sections. oh well i expect to be rejected

here is what i think i got:

easy math: 49-50/50
science:55-60/75
challenge math:11-12/15

i’m a freshman right now.

what are my chances of getting in the program?

@bobthebuilder13 I think you’ll do fine with those scores. I just took the test today (I’m a freshman too) and I think i scored around the same as you. Let’s hope for the best! Also does anyone know when they notify if individuals made it or not?

Starting June 25 students will be notified. @CanisMajor‌

I can’t wait til they tell the results. I think i failed but that wont stop me from hoping

:)

how many do you all think you got right on the challenge math section?

@‌catchinginfinity I think I got around a 12 on the challenge math section.

Uhh 48/50 Easy Math (stupid mistakes)
Science: God only knows.. that was insane (bio and earth science were easy, but chem topics and physics were hard for me cause I never took AP Chem and i haven’t even taken physics yet.)
Hard Math: 12-13/15

Just as a warning: Don’t join the program if you’re only going to use it as a hook for Columbia. The % of SHPers who are accepted to Columbia is very similar to the overall acceptance rate. I had a 2320 and was in SHP, yet was still rejected. All of my SHP friends were rejected as well. The only SHPer I know personally who was accepted was African American, so take what you will from that.

Hey guys what do you think my chances are?
I think I got:
-48 on easy math
-37 on science (I’ve only learned physics and the other questions I answered were from my general knowledge)
-12 on challenge math section (I could’ve gotten a 14 but I wasted my time #4 because of that error)
I’m a freshman and I know that I got a good rec and my grades are all A’s.

I think I got a 49 on Easy Math
I Dont Want to think about science
I think I got a 12 on Hard Math
I Dont Know if I got a good recommendation but i wrote an awesome essay. My grades were decent but mostly on the B range. I really hope they dont really care about that and care more on test.
Also what problem in math did you think was hard. What did you get for that question asking for base in easy math section.

Any questions you guys found hard?

can someone remind me what #4 on the challenge math part was again…

4) What is the sum of the reciprocals of the roots of any quadratic of the form ax^2+bx+c?

The answer is -b/c by vietas however that was not an answer choice.

YES I REMEMBER THAT NOW. our proctor told us to get rid of the exponent in answer choice E ten minutes before the end of the test.
