how well do you think i did as a freshman?
For the probability I got 0.08. What did you guys get for the x and Y question with the workers making clothes or whatever?
I got .08
Workers problem i got y^3/x^2
I think that you did well, how did I do, I want a chance to make it. I think that I got 49(SAT Math), 12(Challenge math), , and worst case 40-something in science. I am making a new topic for challenge math, enter your questions there.
how’d you get .08 for #14?
Never mind, use this link… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1758114-columbia-shp-official-2015-thread.html
@TauEquals2pi You had to use the probabilities available and make proportions and add. I dont remember prob exactly so i cant explain completely but thats about it.
@Oransuiodh Going to venture a guess and say that it’s not enough, unless you’re in an underrepresented minority. But, you’re a freshman and have 2 more years to improve c:
How many did people leave blank for the science portion? I left 3-4 blank (other probs i got confused with I felt I had a large enough chance to get right. For the math sections i didnt leave any blank (while I believe in Easy Math i still have 50/50, the hard math im down to a 13/15 for now). Anyone know how much we get penalized for an error? If anyone wants to discuss a question (while i still actually remember them) pm me.
Just posting my stats for comparison. I answered 50/50, 73/75, 15/15. I’m expecting my score to boil down to something like 50/50, 70/75, 13/15.
isnt there a curve for freshmen?
@CanisMajor I heard 1/3 for easy/science off, 1/4 for challenge…but that just from what I’ve heard from others guessing…Columbia doesn’t like giving much info
While I can actually remember, simplying the imaginary was -1, maximum value 16/3, probability 0.08, area bounded pi, workers y^3/x^2, painted cube 488, four statement 3 were false, a/[a]+b/** was [-4,0,4], runner was 2.5, sum of digits was 25, equal area and volume was 864. Missing 4, feel free to fill in.
@Oransuiodh I doubt the freshmen curve is that generous. But, there were people saying they were getting in with 7/15 on challenge, so idk. I know people who have gotten 11-12 out of the challenge the same year and not got in, these were freshmen btw.
@zenith99 I’ve heard about the same thing. And if anyone wants some reassurance, the other 4 people sitting in my row didn’t even finish the regular math section. I was flabbergasted.
As a sophomore (first time applying) who has taken high school bio, chem and physics, I answered all math problems, 70/75 of science (no earth science or weather for me), and all challenge. I thought the challenge were easier than AMC, which it has been compared to in this very thread, but I would bet I made stupid mistakes all over the place.
The challenge was much easier than the AMC. The problem with me is that I wasted to much time.
Agreed, the people who say it’s like the first 10 problems on amc 10 hit it on the nose.
But are you sure the question was maximum?
