@CanisMajor Hey, your stats don’t seem that bad, your math stats are pretty good compared to what I’ve heard about others
Also @Keytone the probability problem has an explanation on the internet, I think it was a previous AMC question or something…

@zenith99 Right now I’m gonna assume the worst. My hard math stats are now 11/15, easy math is 50/50 (so far) and 60s/75 (prob) for science. Last year 1800 people tried for 380 spots and a LOT of smart people tried… I guess we will all have to wait til June 17th. Good Luck Everyone
lol dude for the axis of symmetry/x-value of vertex for a parabola if the equation is in the form ax^2+bx+c x=-b/2a
and you plug it back in.
lol 50/50 for easy math, high 60s low 70s for science and a 10 or 11 for hard math mostly cuz of really stupid mistakes ex. for the last one i did 10.5-7.5 instead of 10-7.5 so got 3 instead of 2.5. the sad part is idk where i got the extra .5 on the 10
yea there is a curve like if you get the same grade as a sophmore you get in instead of that guy
@kajay88 so what was the answer?
its 16/3 but you didn’t need calc lol i didnt even think about calc and finding the zero for the derivative.
the probability one was 1/4(7/50)+3/4(3/50)= 0.08
@kajay88 No one said you needed calc, just that it was an easy way to solve the problem.
About the curve, I’m not sure that’s necessarily true. They do curve it somehow, but there’s speculation that they actually want juniors more.
@Frigidcold I’ve heard mixed things about the “curve.” Some say freshmen would be favored in the event of having the same score as a junior. Others say juniors are more valuable b/c of having more knowledge in general. Some also say freshmen are more valuable b/c they would likely stay in the program for three years. Honestly have no idea what to think…though me being a sophomore, I’m pretty much middle ground though lol I guess it means nothing for or against me.
nah freshmen have a greater advantage than both sophomores and juniors if they get the same scores
Does anyone know about how many people will be accepted this time around?
@Frigidcold I was being specific to @CanisMajor when i said you don’t need calc cuz he said he didn’t know calc.
@kajay88 After what you said I now FINALLY understand my mistake. I thought that the question was asking for the value of x that leads to the maximum yield…it was really asking for the maximum yield itself…OMG I AM SOOOO STUPID
guys in the science part was the graph of the power and resistance option d?
it was the inverse graph probably
it said that Power was directly proportional to Current. Because Current is inversely proportional to Resistance, I assume Power and Resistance are inversely proportional too.
I picked the inverse graph, which I believe was option B (?)
@penguinpal i cant remember but if you picked the inverse graph then you picked the inverse graph. No letter can change that
(unless you picked a letter for a noninverse graph…that would be bad )
