50/50 for easy math(hopefully), 15/15 for challenge (comparing my answers to your discussion so far), messed up almost all Biology and geography part on science but ok in others(I had 5 in AP Chem last year and taking Physics C this year). I’m curious about whether the science part will hurt me?
@Anniel1004 Yes I’m sure the science part will hurt you but at least you did well on the rest of the test.
Kudos for your high math score!
@Anniel1004 That depends on what you got in the science portion and what grade you are in. How much did you think you got right?
What did everyone think of the science section? I bombed that for sure.
@Anniel1004 i think the grading will be like either you ace the math part or you ace the science part or you do well on both. I believe that those are the qualifications for getting in.
@Anniel1004 Clearly, if you did bad on anything, it will hurt you. But, I’m guessing you’re a junior from your courses. They might not penalize you as much if you took biology a long time ago.
What are my chances of getting in? SAT Math-49, Challenge Math-11, science-50something??? I am a freshman.
@lequalSmart Hmmm. Your chances seem decent. You scored roughly the same as me except in science, but they might take your age into account. Don’t expect anything though.
Sophomore: 49 Math, 55-65 Science, 13-14 Challenge. Hopeful but definitely not expecting.
I’m a sophomore who took the test on April 25th
This is what I expect my score to be based on reading this discussion and discussing the problems with my friends.
50 - Easy math
62-67 science
15 - Challenge Math
What do you guys think my chances look like? I really hope I get in!
@Wooggle Wow those stats are really good…I won’t make any promises, but it helps when you nail down a specific subject perfectly (in your case math), since they typically know that most people are better in one area than the other, I think
@zenith99 Thanks, your response really made me feel really good about my score!
Do you know if we’ll get our scores back when we find out if we’ve been accepted/rejected to the program?
Also, was anyone else surprised by how easy the challenge math was? I was told by my friends and people on the internet that it would be AMC level math, but it was just really basic pre-calc/algebra, which is what I am learning this year in school.
@Wooggle Apparently, the letter only says if you’re accepted or rejected, along with the statistics of people getting into the program. And also, I agree with the surprisingly pretty straightforward nature of the challenge math. Once you understand what they’re asking for, the way to solve them didn’t seem to require any fancy skills (and I’m only at an Algebra II level in school).
Kind of a picky question, but does anyone know what time of the day the results will come in? If it is at midnight, then I’ll probably stay up for it, but I hope it is not some time when i’m at school
Edit: I decided to dig through the old posts in this thread, and judging by this one: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/17373592/#Comment_17373592
it looks like they come out at midnight.
Luckily for me, June 16th is the last day of Finals at my school so I will be able to stay up late that night to wait for the results!
They usually have a make-up exam for kids who missed the exam for extremely extenuating circumstances. You might have just given them all the answers if they use the same exam.
@Wooggle I remember mine were supposed to come out at 10 am and I ended up getting them around 2pm..
@teenagecrime The post I linked to above says they came out around midnight last year so I don’t know what to expect then.
@Falcon1 I don’t think Columbia would just use the same test because then everyone would ask their friends for answers
@wooggle i got in 2 years ago so who knows??
Do they give the same exam on both test dates?
I think they wouldn’t do that but now i’m a little bit worried
@CanisMajor - I was looking at the previous posts I saw you didn’t make it in last year, hope you can make it in this year though
