Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

@WongTongTong and kevmschmid
I think i was in that room too. Were the proctors talking about how they thought the classes were cool? And was there a guy who looked like Zero from Holes?

@JHUGirl
Do u know Cindy S?

Who’s Cindy S? The only person I know, that i met when testing, is Falling4rain

Cindy’s a friend of mine from cty who im pretty sure lives in Princeton. I think shes going into junior year. i figured u might know each other, but i dont know how big princeton is

finally got mine, 2 days later than all of my friends (5 of them) and I got in! so there you go, rejections aren’t sent out last.

^^^^ Are you also in NJ?

Desigirl, did you get your letter yet? You havent posted in a while

Just got the letter, got what I was expecting: rejected.

Me too…rejected

^ ^ Sorry to hear that guys :[

just got my letter…rejected…UGH. i hate life…but then again, i realized after reading rainbowrose’s comments, guess it isnt the end of the world..i have two more shots. @wongtongtong, rly sry! dont wry, ik that wherever u go, ull do great! :stuck_out_tongue: and @JHUgirl, we have two more tries…hopefully, im gonna get it next year! :slight_smile: i realized that freshman have a better curve, but sophs and juniors are mostly accepted…o well, guess i have another shot! :P

hmmm..just reread the letter and it seems about 20% of the kids got in…i used to think it was 2%. why am i so stupid at math and science…

I don’t think i was bad at math.. actually i think i did well on the math section.. but i didn’t know what i was doing in the science section. What was on the science section anyways? hmmm…

Don’t give up guys! I got rejected the first time too.

Just keep in mind, it’s a great program if you get in so definitely keep trying, but it’s nothing life-changing or anything like that so if you don’t get in it’s not the end of the world. One program will not make or break you. One college will not make or break you. It’s not about where you are, but how far you can go with what you have.

Show your interest in science through other things. Join Science Olympiads, apply for a high school research program, take a college course over the summer or ANYTHING else that your heart desires (and that your parents are willing to pay for of course ;)).

^ I think I was in the same room as Wong Tong and JHU, wasnt there some guy whose phone rang off and that distracting proctor? My friend in the room also got rejected and another who wasnt in that room got accepted, I still havent found out, but I think they’re rejecting everyone in that room cause of that incident, that suxs. :confused: not fair at all…w.e i still have that internship for research work to do siemens

Accepted! And good thing too, since I’m a Junior. But don’t worry, guys, you’ll get in when you’re older. It was a big surprise when I got my letter. My mom came into my room and tried to hug me, and so I thought something bad had happened, since she normally doesn’t do that…

Anyway, does anyone have any idea what classes are best to take?

And I was in the Mathematics Hall, where the guy made us go out of the room and come back in again. It felt like everyone was intimidated by everyone else in the room. I was the south asian girl with long hair. I think I talked to another girl about the test during break near the entrance while eating Twix…

@hanicake, i kindo felt like i was gonna have a nervous breakdown…lol…i rly want to get into it next year!

i think they rarely accept freshman , im in bangladesh right now and havent been on the internet for awhile… but yea rejected

Does anyone know how many kids are a part of the shp? Because in the letter it says they accepted about 400 kids, which would imply that 400 seniors (who were accepted as juniors) just left. Not that they were all accepted as juniors, but still.

hey desigirl
wht school do u go to?
cuz i live in princeton too and i was wondering

Does anybody know precisely what the attendance policy is for this program?

Thanks.

Does anyone know when we get letters with the course selections and when the classes start? Did anyone already get stuff like that?? :)
