Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

id say all subjects are equal…as in equal number of physical science, chemistry and biology.
earth science was also there, but not as much

What were the Physics/Earth Science questions about? (Please tell me as much as you remember) Were there many rate/distance problems in the Challenge math section?

oh and by physical science, do you mean physics?

Uh, i think rock layers? But really, it was more common sense than earth science.
And physics was pretty easy as well, there were a few of them but if u know ur equations u can easily calculate
And challenge, there was no rate/distance.

Exactly how many of the challenge do you need to get right?
I felt like i did decent on the first two sections, but only knew how to do a handful of the challenge (i ended up answering only 12)

Uh, i dont know. I answered only 11. Im pretty sure there is not a true cut off line, but ive heard >10 is pretty good.

needhlelp94 what did u get for the last one for the challenge?

I took it today.

I’m pretty sure I got a perfect on both math sections, though I did miss some of the science.

I think the last one on the math was $1.05-- I don’t completely remember.

what kind of physics questions were there?

well, i think i omitted the last one so sorry

does anyone know the guessing penalty? like is it a point off?

What were some of the problems in the challenge math section?

The challenge questions were a joke, for the most part. Just read carefully…

Actually, for most of the questions, you could guess the answer from the start, by just seeing the answer choices. Essentially, even guess and check (although I would not advise it, as that is not true mathematics for most cases (there are exceptions)), will suffice.

I got 115.5 on AMC10, so I think I can ace the challenge math section IF there aren’t many word problems because I suck at those… especially rate/distance problems…

You guys are crazy! haha
I only finished like 7 out of the 15 questions and i accidentally changed some of my guesses to the wrong answer :frowning: or atleast i think so

for the first one when i got back on the train home i realized the answer was 7/5. guess i just didnt do well under a high pressure situation.

Do you think the challenge questions count a lot?

Also the hardest questions on science were probably those physics one which ask you which matches what equation.

Uh, the challenge questions count the most out of all the 3 sections :P

yairnazz, what first one? i dont remember it…which one was it?
and yea, challenge is a huge part, but i mean i wouldnt worry TOO much..

What stuff did you have to know for physics? I never took physics and I know absolutely nothing about it, so it would really help if you guys could tell me concepts and equations I should look over… :P

wow you guys are making me really sad because i kinda hit a wall when taking that section, i guess i got scared i couldnt answer some questions.

the question was 2x-y and x+y 3:4 to x/y = … I kinda guessed on this one, was it b? haha now that i did it on my own i think it was like 5/7

was the answer E?
