Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

^ He didn;t say he is doing this for college admissions, the question was merely on how recognized it is in the eyes of admissions officers. Something im interested in as well. This simply a question on how impressive this program is, so Chill out lmao.

@morpheus…I wish I could like your post. Seriously lol some people are just sad.

I’m not sure how much this program helps. I know kids going to MIT and kids going to Rutgers. Don’t do it for your resume.

Wow no one said he/she was doing it for their resume. We’re interested to see how this program looks for colleges and you guys immediately assume that we are doing it for colleges because of 1 question? And you call us sad Neon?

lol sorry for the confusion. I’m definitely NOT doing this for college. I want to get in because I love science and math. I just wanted to know how it’s recognized. But college is not the reason I would join this program.

@daniel6738 dont apologize, you were right in asking in your post. some people are just jerks

*** i still havent received anything in the mail in princeton, nj… how long is this going to take? omg.

^same, I live near Princeton and still haven’t gotten mine. I got worried at first but it seems most people in our area haven’t received anything yet, so.. maybe tomorrow?

got accepted
and thanks cortana431 lol

still waiting for the mail to come.

How many challenge questions did you guys who were accepted get right/wrong? I got 11 right and 4 wrong

I live in northern New Jersey, rising sophomore, and I just got my letter today. I was accepted  Cortana, I got 14 right and 1 wrong.

cortana i got the same on the challenge section and got in. i think you have a good chance  how do you think you did on the science section? because I feel that I did a little better than what other people were saying

Just what i expected: rejected. no worries though  ill still get to be off saturdays. I’m a junior though, going to be a senior so im sure that played a part in my rejection. My only regret is that I didnt find out about this program until this year :</p>

I’m in pton and I too didn’t get my letter…

accepted  yess <3

Sister got in, friend did not. Northern NJ.
Whoever commented on my sad comment…I wasn’t accusing anyone here but there are plenty of people I know who actually do things for college and frankly it is sad because it takes away spots from people who want to do things just to make themselves happy.

Hey guys, I just got in. And I’m not sure whether the challenge math had that much to do with it - I only answered like 7 of the questions. :p

Does anybody who has done the program before have any recommendations on the best classes? I was thinking of taking Organic Chemistry and Psychology (we can take one per semester, right?)

Wow. I think my mom threw out the envelope by accident. Does anyone know a way I can call the university, so I can see if I got accepted?

@dueljoel, the letter i got didnt give a phone number but the director is Allan S. Blaer. maybe you can find his page on columbia’s website and get a phone number that way

and for any current students, do you guys know how strict they are with attendance? like is there a limit on how many classes you are allowed to miss?

Hey guys, I’m a sophomore (junior next year) from central/northern NJ and I just got an acceptance letter!

Also for any future applicants who were put under the impression that the challenge math section is the “determining” part of the exam- that’s BS. (I answered 11 and got only 8 or 9 right)
Easy math/science are just as important, I’d say even more important, because think about it: over 100 problems on things learned through years of schooling vs. 15 really hard math problems.

I agree with Leonz and jrp1234

I only did 10 problems in the challenge math, but I’m pretty sure that I did well on the science part. My application wasn’t anything stellar either though…My essay really sucked because I didn’t know how to write it and my recommendation was pretty generic.
