I was pretty sure I got a perfect challenge math, but I haven’t received anything yet…

I’m anticipating a rejection, and won’t be surprised if I get one, I think I did pretty badly.

I know people who have gotten rejections already so it’s not that acceptances were sent out first. I think it just depends on the timing with the letters and your mail carrier.

Also, I took the test 2x before I got in :P. Just keep trying! Also, getting into SHP is not the end all be all. I still didn’t get into an Ivy and I know people who didn’t do the program who are into science and did. There are plenty of other ways to show your interest than a single program.

I got rejection. I’m a froshie. I got 11/15 right on challenge but i guessed on last 4 so stupid :(. Did a lot of people get accepted come second time? How many challenge problems do you think I need to get right next time to get in? Will it be much harder to get in sophmore year because of the curve?

Goyala, I’m a rising junior and I took it for the first time and got accepted and a rising sophomore friend of mine also got in. He complained that he didn’t know some of the ideas on the test so I assume that the curve is worse the older you get simply because you are expected to have learned more.

oh i see HDHunter. I would think there is a curve well I’ll just have to do much better next year. Also I think rejections are sent first because my sister(a junior) and I took the test and I got my rejection letter yesterday but she didn’t get a letter from SHP. Also many of my friends in the same area as me didn’t get a letter.???

goyala - what area you live in?

andorvw, youre from long island? what town and did you get anything yet?

im from central nj too. hope to get my letter today as well…

Im hanging around waiting for my sister to get her letter but I just wanted to say I love how this thread is like 5 years old. (: Its cool.

Nothing today (mail man came), Nassau county.

I live in eastern NJ. I still find it strange though that I got my letter before my sister

has anyone tried calling columbia? I’m leaving my house tomorrow so i won’t be able to get the mail ( it still hasn’t come)
if i call columbia, do you think columbia will tell me whether i got accepted or not?
or should I just wait?

No letter from columbia yet. I live outside of N.Y.C. I just want the rejection letter to come!!

I live in Baldwin, NY on Long Island.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday!!! Woohoo!!!

I took it as a sophomore last year and got rejected. I took it again this year, and got accepted.

I think I got 15/15 on the challenge math, and I skipped like 4 easy math questions. I also think I may have gotten around 10 science questions wrong.

Last year, I only got like 7/15 challenge math questions…and I knew nothing about the Physics or Earth Science. I also skipped like 10 easy math questions. No wonder why I didn’t get it.

If you spend a total of maybe 3 hours studying (2 hours for the sciences and 1 hour for like 1 full SAT I math exam, you should be okay.)

They really don’t care about your essay, recommendations, or transcript. It only matters if you tied with someone.

If a sophomore and junior get the same grade, the younger person gets accepted.

And there is no curve on this exam. That’s a myth. Highest scorers get in. I asked the admissions people at Columbia. It is solely based on your performance on the exam…and when there are ties, they look at other stuff.

is it weird that i haven’t gotten a letter yet? I live in plainsboro, which is in central jersey. i really hope i can get the letter tomorrow..which is also when i get my wisdom teeth out. it’s going to be a tough day ahead

My sister and (as far as I know) a friend of mine who lives in my town in northern Jersey still have not gotten their letters either.

does anyone know how well recognized this program is in terms of college admissions?

^why are you doing this for college admissions…
